I personally love flea markets. I know that if there were one in my neighborhood, I probably wouldn't complain. That is not the case in some Brooklyn neighborhoods.I have heard from some people and read some articles about the bad attitude towards flea markets in some communities. I can see if it were an everyday occurence, but one day a week really isn't hurting anyone. I think there should be some compromise with these things. In a particular Brooklyn community, a flea market may not be the most welcomed events. there have been complaints from people in that community that just did not want the market there claiming that it was just junk. The church in this particular community was even upset as the flea market has been driving churchgoers away. This certainly is not the first case I have heard of flea markets disrupting communities. However, I think that both parties really should just talk it out and make some compromises. We all know and love the great fair food that we eat ate the summer festivals and gatherings. Tractor pulls and funnel cakes on a warm August evening are familiar thoughts from my youth.Well now, even the flea markets are starting in on the fair food. At the Third World Bizarre there are a variety of treats, mostly of the Mexican influence. Like fresh fruit topped with chili powder, lime and salt. Or an ear of corn covered in mayo and parmesean cheese. Ok, so not your traditional food, but food still. My brother is an avid collector of the original Spiderman comic collector and he was very pleased with me when I came back from our local flea market with a couple of rare Spidey comics.I have never been to one of those comic con things that he goes to every year (read about these meetings here, Non-Attending ComicCon) , but he said that the comics I got were really a bargain.

Last weekend I went to a flea market for the first time. I really enjoyed it. This article sums up the experience that I had, Herald & Review Archives | Life: Flea markets keep packing 'em in.To make a long story short I am hooked. I bought some great cookbooks. Some of them were older too so I got some great recipes that were just like mom used to make. If anyone has never been to a flea market, I would suggest you go at least once.
